Annual “Katina” Ceremony

Fifth Year Commemoration of Late Nayaka Thero

Katina Ceremony and the fifth-year Remembrance of Venerable Kurunegoda Piyathissa Maha Nayaka Thero will be held on the 09^th and 10^th of November 2024. The Katina ceremony will begin with the overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony on Saturday the 09^th starting at 8.00 pm. The ceremony of offering Katina Robe (Cheevara) and Dana for Maha Sangha will be followed on the 10^th Sunday.
 

• Events on both days will be live-streamed through YouTube, Facebook, and the temple website.

• If you wish to offer a robe (cheevara) or inner robe (andana), you can buy them from the temple and donate some money for temple expenses.

Program schedule for November 09^th and 10^th

• November 09^th : 08.00 p.m., offering and overnight Pirith chanting ceremony.

• November 10^th : 6.00 a.m. bringing Katina robe, offering Buddha-pooja and monks’ breakfast (Dana).

  • 10.30 Offering Buddha Pooja, lunch (dana) for monks, and lunch for participants

  • 01.30 Offering Katina robe and sharing merits

  • 02.30 End of the ceremony and cleaning.

• නොවැම්බර් 09 සෙනසුරාදා:
  • සවස 8:00 ට සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව සහ පිරිත් දේශනය.

• නොවැම්බර් 10 ඉරිදා:
  • උදෑසන 6:00 ට කඨින චීවරය වැඩමවීම, උදෑසන සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව, සහ හීල් දානය.
  • පෙ: ව: 10:30 සිට ප: ව: 2:30 දක්වා සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව, දහවල් දානය, නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේට පින් පැමිණවීම සහ කඨින චීවර පූජාව.
